Creative Excellence Award | Microsoft Ringmaster Challenge (2022)
In August 2022, our team in Microsoft’s Consumer Channel Sales & Marketing (CCSM) organization received recognition for the success of the Ringmaster Challenge, a global digital‑marketing learning initiative developed in partnership with Circus Street.
I created the creative concept and gamified theme, including the “Ringmaster Challenge” name, narrative, and all supporting copy.
The program achieved record engagement across geographies by transforming upskilling into a friendly, high‑energy competition
I wrote the global communications that motivated teams worldwide, drove participation, and reinforced the value of continuous learning.
This award also reflects the collaborative partnership with Circus Street’s team and the creative freedom and support provided by CCSM leadership. I was honored to be included in the celebration — complete with a custom avatar mug.
Outstanding Research Honorable Mention & OSHA National Award | Mask Selection Digital Tool (2022)
Served as copywriter and photographer on a select University of Washington Communication Leadership team supporting the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) and Restart Partners in redesigning and promoting the Mask Selection web application, a public‑health resource used by workers across the country.
Developed original, bilingual (English + Spanish) social media messaging and campaign content in partnership with L&I’s Public Works team, ensuring accuracy and resonance across diverse worker groups. Campaign posts were published across L&I’s Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn channels and amplified nationwide, reaching audiences across agencies and stakeholder networks.
Contributed to a nationally recognized public‑health initiative, with the Mask Selection web app downloaded in all 50 states and more than 30 countries, supporting safer workplace practices during COVID‑19. The project earned an OSHA National Award and an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Research from the UW CommLead program.
Enhanced campaign visibility and engagement through original photography and creative storytelling, including a widely shared image of Seattle’s “Waiting for the Interurban” statues wearing masks, helping the campaign stand out during a time when virtually no stock imagery of masked professionals existed.

Innovation in Public Health Technology — Paxlovid Wizard Nomination (2022)
During my graduate studies in the University of Washington’s Communication Leadership program, I created the Paxlovid Wizard, a mobile website concept designed to close critical gaps in the federal Test‑to‑Treat program.
The tool streamlined access to Paxlovid for at‑risk, low‑income, rural, and underserved communities by replacing telehealth barriers with a guided eligibility flow, multilingual support, and a delivery pathway leveraging USPS Priority Express.
The project addressed inequities in internet access, transportation, language availability, and medical access, offering a scalable model for rapid medication delivery during public‑health emergencies. My work included UX design, content strategy, research synthesis, and a full end‑to‑end service model.
“Alyssa’s project demonstrated exceptional creativity, rigor, and real‑world impact. The depth of her concept, the clarity of her problem‑solving, and the strength of her prototype stood out as a model of student innovation in ethical technology and public‑interest communication.” — Dr. Sarah Lohmann, Full‑Time Teaching Faculty, University of Washington Information School, specializing in IT governance, cybersecurity, and emerging and energy technologies.
