Communication Leadership at the University of Washington

My tenure at the University of Washington began in 2019. I earned a Master of Communication in Digital Media UW MCDM in June of 2022. I worked full-time, took classes part-time and took time off over summer. I absolutely loved this program.

The Master of Communication in Digital Media is a professional degree focused on communication strategy. It emphasizes content creation skills, literacy of emergent technologies, and proficiency of platforms. I improved upon and learned new, diverse ways to craft intelligent engagement strategies using media production, distribution of content, and analytics.

Since graduating, I've expanded my professional skills to include digital marketing and social media, business start-up and development consulting, mentorship and so much more. In life, we're always iterating on what we learn.

with Dr. Sarah Lohmann

This was my final class before graduation.

We learned about public policy in cybersecurity, emerging technology, and international relations.

Dr. Lohmann is a certified bad-ass. Check her out.

My intention on this page is to remind myself which classes I took, what I studied and what I produced. I also welcome questions from any prospective CommLead students. Feel free to reach out on LinkedIn! If you want to connect, please include a note about yourself and how I can help.

I collaborated with a team of CommLead students to develop written content for a digital tool in a nationally recognized public‑health initiative: a mask‑selection web app that was downloaded in all 50 states and more than 30 countries to support safer workplace practices during COVID‑19. The project earned an OSHA National Award and received an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Research from the UW CommLead program.

Ongoing Alumni Engagement

Alumni Fellow
Alumni Fellows are former Communication Leadership students who offer support and mentorship to current students. This unique program connects international alumni to the Comm Lead community, helps current students throughout their journey, and creates ongoing professional development.

Class Audit
As an Alumni Fellow, CommLead offered enrollment into any course, in exchange for contributing to the program. I was excited to use that opportunity to deepen my video‑production skills by taking "Creating Video Content with Real World Clients 503."
I partnered with two others to plan, shoot, edit, and produce an “About Us” video.
